Euros 2017 Report

Gilly all focused and ready to win

I don’t have time to write a full report for The Euros because I’m working and packing for The Worlds but a couple of things spring to mind.

The amount of help we get from volunteers is staggering sometimes, the lads from Anston, Ponty and Emley with help of a couple lads from MFTA did a brilliant job on the courses and plinker.

Same goes for the girls in the stats tent, without them you wouldn’t be shooting. Also to Si, who marshaled all weekend with everyone who said they help, brilliant job done. Beryl and Mike in refreshments tent for feeding and watering us all and finally to everyone who helped out with giving air to overseas shooters. I can’t thank you all enough for helping out, without you there just wouldn’t be a shoot.

Thanks to Beryl and Mike in refreshments tent for feeding and watering us all and finally to everyone who helped out with giving air to overseas shooters. I can’t thank you all enough for helping out.

So, next time you moan, have a think on about what it takes before you moan at me because I can tell you for nothing my skin was a bit thin after 2 days of it! Lots of us had put two days in before you even arrived. That said though, I did enjoy my shooting 🙂

The course was long with tricky switching wind on Saturday, not enough to see it but it was there, the plinker was just a waste of lead, a couple of inch spread each side at 50yds. Nothing really to learn or use from it except that your zero and clicks were good.

I didn’t start well, I completely missed the plate on the first target and that was the wake-up call for how much wind there was, I got stuck in and managed to hold a 39 but I really wanted the 40 but I couldn’t hold it on the last lane.

Day 2 started pretty much same as the first, it was so overcast that I misranged the first target by about 2 yards, it wasn’t helped by my mood, as soon as I landed the moaning started, it’s a bit much at 6.50am to be honest. By the time I’d got to lane 5 I was switched on and knocking them over again. The wind switched on me on a couple but I pulled off a 37 but it should have been another 39.

That all said I had a good time and I think the event went really well. Nice to see Gilly back on form and overall I think there was some amazing shooting going on. Thanks everyone.
